This really isn't my kind of thing, but when I came across it at Nina's blog - We Adore A Happy Ending. For some reason it just seemed really relevant and important, I think it's a fantastic idea and I think one of these should be done by bloggers every year, it’s a great way to wrap the year up. The original blog behind the idea is The Perpetual page - turner Feel free to hop over there and join in!
Survey Part 1
1. Best book of 2010? Hmm, The best book of 2010, ill pick a few since I'm picky, those that stood out to me this year, in my opinion would be The Sky is everywhere, The Book Thief, Thirteen Reasons Why, Perfect Chemistry and the Kite runner since I re read it :)
2. Worst book of 2010? I have to go with Crescendo, it was just wrong in every single way.
3. Most Disappointing Book of 2010? Would be Paranormalcy, Crescendo would also fit in this category, reason being my expectations for both were huge and were not met at all, with saying that it can change things when your disappointed with a book because it means that you expected more, meaning you might just give the next a try, in other words make me love the next one.
4. Most surprising (in a good way!) book of 2010? The Book Thief, surprised? For me The Book Thief could have ended horrendously, this would be due to expecting something different, my expectations got the better of me and nearly lead me to not see it for what it really was, I finally got it towards the end thankfully, it was just a flash and suddenly it clicked, everything made sense, I couldn't believe I had even thought otherwise!, sure showed me huh, I love to be proved wrong, especially by the novel itself!
5. Book you recommended to people most in 2010? Read Hush Hush and Perfect Chemistry to see the essence of perfect chemistry, to give you a life changing perspective on life, read Thirteen reasons Why, To question the potential of our future society Read Delirium By Lauren Oliver and Matched By Ally Condie
6. Best series you discovered in 2010? The Infernal Devices, I really appreciate her work now, regardless of the new authors and titles coming out, her work throughout has always stood out and left it's mark I look forward to the second in the series. Others would include The Last Survivors series, Hunger games and Vampire Academy By Richelle Mead.
7. Favourite new authors you discovered in 2010? Wow this is a tough one, Angela Morrison, Heidi R Kling, Phoebe Kitanidis , Ally Condie, Jennifer Echols, Andrea Cremer, Marcus Zusak and Lauren Oliver, LJ Smith and Jay Asher. all in my opinion brought something unique and great to the table this year, they are extremely talented and I look forward to more of their work.
8. Most hilarious read of 2010? Come to think of it, I have never really looked out or read books just for humour so I haven't encountered many, one that I do remember which may have made me an emotional wreck also managed to make me laugh. How? I have no idea, I still find it confusing as to how I can be crying and then laughing like mad the next minute, but PS I Love you by Cecelia Ahern really did that for me.
9. Most thrilling, unputdownable book in 2010? Unwind By Neal Shuasterman, absolutely amazing, I have never read anything quite like it, he is pure talent.
10. Book you most anticipated in 2010? Clockwork Angel By Cassandra Clare definitely, there are one or two others but this is perhaps the only novel that came close to meeting my expectations.
11. Favourite cover of a book you read in 2010? Nightshade By Andrea Cremer, it's just gorgeous.
12. Most memorable character in 2010? What a great question, Lucas in the novel Lucas By Kevin Brooks was a character that really left me shaken he is a masterpiece in itself. Rose from Vampire Academy and Katniss from the Hunger Games are both the kind of females I admire and strive to be like, strong, confident, independent and ambitious. Excluding fan girly characters I go ga ga over because then I would have a massive list: P
13. Most beautifully written book in 2010? That's a huge huge statement to make, but, hmmm It's between the Sky is Everywhere and The Giver, both exquitely written in their own right. (For me beautifully written is based on the kind of writing that is special and has the biggest impact on it's reader and these two fit that bill)
14. Book that had the greatest impact on you in 2010? The Giver By Lois Lowry, this book is in a niche of it's own, nothing compares.
15. Book you can't believe you waited UNTIL 2010 to finally read? Before I fall and The Book Thief, it's ridiculous how long it took me to get around to reading them!
End of Survey Part 11 - Optional-
1. New favourite book blog you discovered in 2010? Wondrous reads, Love reading X and The Bookologist, most of my other favourite blogs were discovered previously.
2. Favourite review that you wrote in 2010? The Sky Is Everywhere not was it the very first book to receive a full 6 star rating but I felt my passionate feelings for the book really showed.
3. Best discussion you had on your blog? I don't think I have a favourite really, I am always discussing with my readers, it's one of the things I really enjoy about blogging, you can find me discussing mostly on my feature A Fantasy lovers thoughts, some examples would be me discussing, loosing followers Here or friendship and how bloggers can feel so connected without having met each other here , also I did a post about book banning and speaking out if I recall, I enjoy discussing things that feel taboo or that other bloggers tend to shy away from, I can be rebellious like that :D
4. Most thought-provoking review or discussion you read on somebody else's blog? You know it's hard to come by those, many focus on writing the review so thought provoking or going into so much detail or even getting personal doesn't come much into reviews, I would like to see more thought provoking reviews though, that are inspirational and really showcase a bloggers love for a novel.
5. Best event that you participated in (author signings, festivals, virtual events, memes, etc.)? The Becca Fitzpatrick signing, it was the first signing I have ever gone to and the first time I had met a blogger, I met Iffath and Jenny there, that was definitely a special moment :)
6. Best moment of book blogging in 2010? Easy. The whole discussion behind banning books and speaking out, I mean I have never seen everyone come together like that, nothing mattered that moment, every blogger and Author put their heart and soul into their posts, people shared things unimaginable, we got to know so many bloggers on a level we never thought we would, we got to know Authors, how we all came together just shows, when it comes down to it at the end of the day, truly? Despite the hoo haa and drama we have at times. Authors and Bloggers genuinely care and have each others back. The banning topic is pure evidence of it. That's something I will always cherish and it really made me proud to be part of the community.
7. Best bookish discover (book related sites, book stores, etc.) Book Depository!! is a complete life saver, without it things would be a disaster, I mean that length of time books take to publish in the UK and many other countries can just be ridiculous so buying yourself a US copy makes it all worthwhile.
