Put A Ribbon On is a Feature of mine in which I share the books I have received each week, which is inspired by..
Alea of Pop Culture Junkie and is held every Saturday/Sunday
Oh you know guys. I feel so lame. Every time I post my new hauls, I look back and see that there are only one or two posts in between. :/ There are so many reviews I need to catch you up on, and I've reviewed some on goodreads - I just need to update my blog more. I'm working on it. Promise!
ALSO, 40th PAROI POST!!! Hell to the yeahhhhhhh . hehehehe xD
OK, on to the good stuff/
So this weeks books involved paying a long awaited trip to my trusty library. And this time I really, really took my time. Most of them were rereads but the ones that weren't I read a few pages of in the library - just to make sure they were to my taste. I got lucky!
I finished Before I Die and The Swallows of Kabul just a few days ago. wow, they were both gut wrenching. Before I Die clicked with me on a different level. Although I read it some years back the first time, this time around gosh I just connected with so hard. Honestly, it blew me away and made me tear up more than once. It still hasn't left me.
I also finished The City of Lost Souls (mixed thoughts on it) and I started How It Ends today. I have been grinning ear to ear and simultaneously wanting to slap some sense into our protagonist. But it has some VERY swoon-y moments. Jesse is just as gorgeous as I remembered him. Biker dude with dreadlocks CHECK. Thirteen Reasons Why and Unwind are two books I am hugely looking forward to. it's funny since I read all these around the time time ( 2009). So for some of them I am missing huge details out and for this reason it actually feels like I am reading them for the first time, which is just perfect. :) Being Emily was one that quickly stuck with me as soon as i read the synopsis and first few pages. I just had to take it home with me. (hope I love it)
Not only have I been meaning to reread Unwind for some time now (since it was simply amazing) but I got THIS in the post today thanks to a giveaway I won from Kat @ S&S !! I never win these things so you can imagine my happy dance when I found I had won.
LOOK
Creepy isn't it? But I kind of love how the cover demands your attention.
The bracelet I'm wearing is one that I won from a giveaway over at YA Highway. And it's a "handmade Mayan string bracelet from Guatemala." How cool is that? (I have been wearing it religiously since it came in the mail. And because I have small wrists (booo) it has fallen off a few times and was frantically running around the house trying to find it. That's when i realised just how attached I had become to it). I can't get enough of it now :P With it came the above goodies. (A signed bookmark and postcard.) I also had a choice to pick any drawing from the book and I picked this one. I thought it was so beautiful. I love that it made me feel free by just looking at it. :) I was SO pumped to win these goodies because around the same time I received my copy of Wanderlove and having them together was just perfect.
As you can see I had a brilliant haul this week.
You know, sometimes I worry that I'll struggle to find books that will be new favs because I have already read so many amazing books and that kind of connection is so hard to come by. And this is why rereading some of your old favourites can be just wonderful. That sense of ease of going into a book you know you will love is just lovely.
Happy reading everyone <3
