Oh yeah and it sure aint me

So how do I even begin? Perhaps with the utmost honesty on my part. You know I am not one to shy away when I believe something or someone is in the wrong. I'm sure as you all know this has gotten me into drama in the past *hangs head in shame* It started a few hours back when I saw a Cassandra Clare tweet saying that someone had called Clary a bitch a whore. I was pretty shocked and replied right away that the girl is in no way a whore. when I went on read further tweets I started to see another story. All these tweets talking and bitching about what this one girl said just seemed silly.

The girl good naturedly said she liked her series. I could tell she was a fan and loved jace to! she said Clary was a bitch because she hurt Jace at times and it all seemed very light hearted not malicious at all! The author then went into this big rant basically dissing this one girl, talking about sexism when sexism had nothing to do with any of it! When a friend spoke up to defend her friend telling Cassandra Clare that she was completely unprofessional I found myself nodding in full agreement.

You know the hardest thing about this whole thing, accepting that the author of your favourite series may not be very nice, now this isn't the first time I've heard things on this author, it seems others have too who haven't mentioned it until now. What people don't realise is - when your famous everything is noted. The way you come across, the way you interact.  I've noticed her for some time now, but I just pushed it back because I was a fan. Heck I had arguments with others defending her! Seems kind of silly now. What was a further shock to me was authors joining in, only adding fuel to the fire, this disappointed me.

I felt the anger increasing and mentioned my thoughts on twitter - a mate who I know is lovely and like me speaks her mind openly said that she too was disgusted and couldn't believe how that girl was attacked Aka @Book_Faery from there we discussed and analysed the situation. From there others joined and we shared our thoughts. It felt good to know that we weren't the only ones who felt this way. You don't need to question whether I'm a fan, just read my gushing thoughts about this series for 2 years and my jace button on the side and it gives it away.

Know that I will not give up on the series because I love it and it would be unfair just because of how I now feel about what happened today. What amazes me is how all us readers felt hurt, we all connected when we saw a fellow reader hurt by what an author she admired said. It hurt you too because she could have said that to any of us. Whether we may not acknowledge each other for whatever reasons in a library , across the street or at book store. We are all still connected through reading. We can't ignore this connection that we have with each other because it's always going to be there.

Today proved that one girls sadness hurt us all and we couldn't help but speak out. The fact that other authors joined in hurt me it made me slightly bitter, but then again like I had reacted to her tweet without seeing the whole story could have been their situation too. I hope so anyway I would hope that they don't support what she did. We have had amazing support, the girl now more than anything else knows that as readers if nothing else when push comes to shove, we have each others back. I think when you are an author one thing you have to accept is criticism, if you can't take it don't be a author as it comes as apart of the job.

Why are you an author when you refuse to acknowledge the negative? Like Tori said I don't want one authors behavior to affect the rest, because I have met some amazing authors who interact with their fans wonderfully, and although I may not call you out I truly appreciate you, you may not think it but just like we see the negative we sure as hell see the positive too.

There will be those of you who may agree with me and those who really don't and that's fine, You can hate me or love me for this, this wouldn't be happening without reason. Turns out many have their opinions, I am not making this post for any particular reason other than the way she handled this situation  - she made a fan cry when she could have handled it so much more professionally. She lost dedicated fans, and for what, someone who wasn't to fond of Clary, who was perhaps joking? I'm all for that but I had something to say so I had my say. Don't be afraid to have yours.
