(arc) BR- Throne of Glass By Sarah J. Maas

Source: Bloomsbury (thank you!) Release Date: 2nd August 2012  Age RangeYoung Adult  Genre: Fantasy  Rated: 4.5

This really isn't my genre. And although I might make the odd exceptions, I pretty much am a contemporary girl through and through. But this one turned out to be one of those odd exceptions once the gushing reviews started coming in on goodreads. And yes, I am very, very glad I picked this one up.

Get a piece of our heroine. She's no timid, self-conscious girl wanting a man to protect her at all times. No. She is one of the most feared assassins, if not one of THE best around.  Oh, and make no mistake, because she has the arrogance to show for it. But although she is very vain (which took some time getting used to ) she is also extremely fierce, courageous and loyal. And I love that about her. Although she was betrayed by her own people, lived in the most horrific of circumstances and grew up with a man who was more cruel to her than I'd like to remember, she still has the ability to care and be loyal, as well as indulge in pretty clothes. Had it been someone else, I may have not been so forgiving, but with Celaena I learned to back off a bit whenever I got a tad too annoyed by her. I mean, she has lived through a cruel life, lived through things no one should have to -and at such a young age, too. She deserves the odd luxuries that she can get a hold of - especially when every day is a step closer towards possibly being eliminated and being sent back to the mines.

Not only is Celaena feisty but she is quite the flirt. So when she is chosen as Prince Dorians champion and instructed to train under his best friend: the caption of the guard, Chaol - let's just say some chemistry follows. Dorian Hollivard is a complete ladies man, and his guard, Chaol, couldn't be more different. Stern and very frown-y, he's very mature for his age and extremely professional. But it's hard not to notice the change between the three that goes on as the book progresses. It's not exactly my most favourite of triangles because it is just way too early to know who I am vouching for at this moment in time or to figure either out enough to decide who I like better (there is also the fact that I have a bit of a gripe with the way things were handled with one of them towards the end). However, both of them are quite the charming pair, and poor little Celaena is caught right in the middle.

The lucky cow.

Badassery ensues, friendship is found in a unlikely woman and some awesome battle scenes remain a constant to keep you on edge and fist pumping when things get intense! You might also notice that the actual plot really kicks in halfway through. And it's not that nothing is happening right before all that - it's just that you're getting fed the background details, the way things work, circumstances of some of the characters and all the essential build up that you most definitely need if you are to know what's coming ahead. Oh, and am I the only one who adored Nox? I rooted for him so hard. I just wish there had been more of him. Personally, I might have even liked him a little more than the other two. He was quite the intriguing lad -as well as hot. Yes, I loved it. :) This book completely caught me off guard by just how good it was. With plenty of witty and charming banter, and a brilliant cast to boot, I think we definitely have an exciting series here. I know our protagonist is a killer, but apart from that I am glad to say that this WOMAN (as she is every inch of the word) is one that girls can actually look up to. She is a great example of how you can be confident and very sure of your looks and be proud, to be a fighter, in the literal sense, and be proud - and to go through hell and back and still maintain all that makes you YOU.

Are you ready for this one, guys?

In thoughts and pictures :)

I greet you with the gorgeousness that is JEREMY RENNER .  I lovez this man so, SO much it's crazy *sighs*

This is quite a bit if a random post, huh. But if you've been a reader of this blog long enough, you'll know that it's nothing new. Posts have been scarce here, or to be more specific, I haven't been posting anywhere near as much as I used to.I guess a lot has changed in the past few months. The beginning of this year has been different for me life- wise and blogging-wise, and that is clear if you look at the amount of posts on my archive. Maybe I have changed as a person. I mean, I am twenty years old - far from the16 year old who started this blog. I've also found that lately I haven't even been reading all that much. But one thing definitely remains the same: the want to stay connected to my readers. The blog needs a lot of updating - like the review archive. And for this reason I'm going to be spending the next few weeks just making time to update it, take out a few things, put others in its place and write more posts - including updating you with all the books I have been reading!

So this post will include just a whole lot of updates to let you know a few things about me

First of all, if you feel like you can't catch me often on here, I am on goodreads 'here' a lot more. My account is on private so if you want to add me, please answer the question. I am much more up to date with my reviews on there so you might find it filled with reviews of books you had no idea I had read. I'll be linking my goodreads page on the site. I should have done it much earlier since I am on it so often. And also, if you are for whatever reason interested in my ramblings, follow me on twitter and I would love to chat! 'here' :)

I have also recently been trying to get into anime. And truthfully, it's not the getting-into it part that one struggles with but finding the right anime. Which of course, is the most crucial part. I forget how amazing anime is when I take a break from it after a while. I am currently watching Hana-Saku Iroha. (check out the synopsis and ratings here . Anime Planet is fantastic if you're looking for a anime to watch. Plenty of reviews and ratings to give you a hint of what's for you. It is my go-to place when I am looking to watch something.) Although current episodes aren't as good as the first few, the topics it handles, the depth to some of these characters just amazes me. Mother-daughter relationships are really dealt to their core in this, a young girl trying to figure out what she wants to do with her life, discover herself and juggle friendships and blossoming feelings for a once best mate are just few of the things she is going through. And it is why I love anime so much. Anime tends to handle these topics so head on, with such force and yet with a kind of sensitivity to back it up that just always blows me away.

But before I started watching this, I was all about the TV shows. My top three favourites have to be The Walking dead (this one made me face my fear of zombies. scary bits/ gore. Like it really tested me and I wanted to watch it so bad that I had no choice but to face it head on for the first time). And I am so , so glad I did. It was mind blowing. Next came Spartacus. Now my big brother told me about it but wanted me nowhere near it. It has nudity. A LOT of it. So it won't be everyone's cup of tea. But being the rebellious sister and all, it only made me want to watch it more. Of course I did. Hehehee. After I was over being traumatised, I eventually desensitised to all the nudity and their way with words. And I fell for it hard. It's my favourite out of the three, let's just put it that way, shall we :). Game of Thrones is the third show I watched. With the previous two having finished, and their new seasons not starting for a year or so, well, boy am I glad I have this fantastic show to keep me going. I thought I would hate it. The genre is not my thing at all but wow was I proved wrong. Robb Stark anyone, yes please!!

Books-Wise I recently received The Golden Lily, Legend, and The throne of Glass (which I am currently reading). I am also going to read The Blind Assassin By Margaret Atwood and The Journals of Sylvia Plath, which I am hugely excited for.

I have a few books which I need to review being: Insurgent, City of Lost Souls, How it Ends Unwind (once I have reread it), Chain Reaction, Before I die, some Melina Marchetta books (!!), A midsummer's Nightmare, Chaos Walking series and This is Not a Test.

And lastly, as a way for us to catch up on the blog I installed a chat box. Remember that one? Hehehe. I had one back in the early days of blogging and proved quite useful. I know it's rightttttt at the bottom of the blog, but alas, what to do? So just scroll to the bottom and you should see it.

(CLICK those in bold to have a listen at the songs)
Current Favourite songs: Fun (we are young) ft Janelle Monae  , Rihanna (Where have you been ) , Drake ft Rihanna (take care)    Jay Z and Kanye West ft Frank Ocean ( No Church in the Wild) , The Fray (Be Still) and John Williams (Becoming a Geisha) this one is just stunning. I am constantly listening to it on repeat. It is perfect for a calm mood.

This has become quite the long post so I'll end it with a little something...
